5 Absolutely Must Eat Food When You Visit Delhi.

Almost everything in Delhi qualifies as must eat food. For anyone to write about 5 must eat food in Delhi is a real task in itself. For the sake of convenience, we shall talk about 5 different areas that are a must visit and you need to visit at least 4 or 5 different eateries in each area to get a feel of that place. Hence, you may be able to visit just one locality a day when you are here.

#1 Paratha at Parathe Wali Gali, Chandni Chowk

A trip to Delhi without a visit to parathe wali galli, is like not visiting Eiffel tower on your next trip to Paris. If you have not eaten here, you haven’t eaten much. Its one of its kind and exclusive to Delhi, Chandni chowk only. You won’t see such a comprehensive spread of parathas anywhere else.

For those, who do not know what a paratha is, it’s a whole wheat flat bread. Usually stuffed with all sorts of different ingredients starting with potato to paneer, radish, cauliflower and a combination of a lot of other stuff. Its fried with ghee and served with either curd, chole or just plain ghee.

Its been around for over 50 years now. A place where you will find people from all walks of like and society there. Politicians, celebs and influential people are very commonly sighted here. Babu Ram Parathe Wale and Pandit Gaya Prasad Shiv Chara are by and large the most famous paratha wallas here. An absolute must eat food.

#2 North Campus

Delhi University has a North and a South campus. The South campus is much larger with a lot more number of colleges and a larger area than the North Campus. Students studying in the North campus think that they are the more elite amongst the students in North and South campus. One thing for sure though. North campus has some eateries that serve must eat food without tasting which ones food safari wouldn’t be complete.

Must eat foodStreet food, multi-cuisine restaurants, snacks and fast food, North campus has it all. So obviously if you have to have a feel of the taste of the food served here, you would need to make 3 trips at least.

A few eateries you can’t miss here are Chache Di Hatti, Bamboo Hut, Bille Di Hatti, Shagun Asian Eatery, Momo’s Point.

#3 Hudson Lane

Very close to the North Campus of Delhi University lies another paradise for food lovers. This place has an array of must eat restaurants that serve affordable and pocket friendly food to say the least. Name the kind of cuisine you would like, you shall find it at Hudson Lane.

When you are low on cash and yet want to eat something exotic and lip-smacking, you need to try the creamy pasta at Penne

Cream Sauce. Make sure you also check out Woodbox Cafe, Mad Monkey, Indus Flavours and Rico’s.

#4 Pandara Road

For those days when the craving for Indian, or Punjabi food, your destination has to Pandara road. Located very close to India Gate, its the best place for spicy meat dishes to snack on. Pandara road boasts of some of the best-known restaurants in India which make this place a must eat food place.

When the craving is for rich Punjabi food, food lovers in Delhi are sure to point you towards Pandara Road. Credited as a food paradise (particularly, a hub for butter chicken), the market area of Pandara Road is buzzing with people throughout the year, as they make their way to indulge in sinful treats like butter chicken, barrah kebabs, chicken tikka, dal makhani and the like.

#5 Jama Masjid

If you are a meat lover, your food safari in Delhi cannot end till you visit the food around Jama Masjid. For the most delectab

le meat, street food and must eat food, one trip to Jama masjid is not really enough. If you are vegetarian, it would be safer for you to drop this from your list as we wouldn’t like you to be disappointed, really.

Jama Masjid and the lane opposite, Bazaar Matia Mahal, have some of the best non-vegetarian street food in Delhi. From keema samosas to grilled boti to kebabs and jalebi, this area is a paradise for foodies.

Food in Delhi is not just something one eats. Food is a festival, a celebration, a passion and a way of life. Thats what food means to Delhiites. Its unbelievable unless its seen and felt. Its extremely difficult to name top 5 restaurants but these are some places one must visit to get a feel of the must eat food in and around Delhi.
